The mountains hold the valley still, and the sky does the moving
Crawford's Notch funnels the sky into a narrow band between two ridgelines, and that framing is the whole photograph. I set up late, after the last car had gone through the pass, and waited for the galactic core to climb high enough to clear the eastern wall. The cold came down the valley in a slow current the entire time. Nothing about the exposure was difficult; the patience was the work.
From Crawford's Notch, where mountains frame the infinite, we witness the eternal dance between earth and sky. These peaks have stood sentinel over countless stargazers seeking meaning in the night.
The image is infused into the surface of the metal itself, not printed on top of it. Starlight reads as actual luminance rather than ink, which is why astrophotography belongs on metal.
Care: Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth. No cleaners, no glass spray.
