The road is the only vertical thing for thirty miles
Out here the composition problem is emptiness — there is nothing to anchor a frame except the road itself, so the road has to be the subject. I put the vanishing point slightly off centre and let the sky take two thirds of the image, because that ratio is what the place actually feels like to stand in.
The desert between towns on this stretch is genuinely dark once the sun goes, with no light dome in any direction. It is a landscape that rewards staying put after the photograph is made.
The image is infused into the surface of the metal itself, not printed on top of it. Starlight reads as actual luminance rather than ink, which is why astrophotography belongs on metal.
Care: Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth. No cleaners, no glass spray.
