A hillside where the fog arrives before the light does
Sintra has its own microclimate — the ridge pulls moisture off the Atlantic, so the palaces spend a good part of the morning in and out of cloud. I waited for the fog to thin rather than clear, because fully clear light flattens the colour on those facades and the haze is what gives the hillside its depth.
The Sintra hills held Moorish, then royal, then romantic-era architecture, each generation building on the last without removing much. The result is a wooded ridge with palaces surfacing out of it.
The image is infused into the surface of the metal itself, not printed on top of it. Starlight reads as actual luminance rather than ink, which is why astrophotography belongs on metal.
Care: Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth. No cleaners, no glass spray.
