The water is the road, and it holds the whole sky
The backwaters are almost entirely horizontal — there is nothing tall to build a composition around, so the sky has to do the work and the water has to reflect it. I shot low and close to the surface so the reflection would occupy as much of the frame as the sky itself, which is the only way the place reads honestly.
Alappuzha sits in a network of canals, lagoons and rivers running parallel to the Malabar Coast. The waterways are working infrastructure, not scenery — a fact the light never quite lets you forget.
The image is infused into the surface of the metal itself, not printed on top of it. Starlight reads as actual luminance rather than ink, which is why astrophotography belongs on metal.
Care: Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth. No cleaners, no glass spray.
