Built by people whose name for it we no longer know
The scale at Teotihuacan does not photograph easily — from the ground the pyramids flatten, and from a distance they lose their mass. I worked in the early light when the sun was low enough to put a hard edge on every terrace, which is the only thing that restores the sense of how tall they actually are.
Teotihuacan was among the largest cities in the world when it was built, and it was already ancient ruins when the Aztecs found and named it. Its avenues are aligned to the sky with a precision that is still argued over.
The image is infused into the surface of the metal itself, not printed on top of it. Starlight reads as actual luminance rather than ink, which is why astrophotography belongs on metal.
Care: Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth. No cleaners, no glass spray.
